Renewable UK (formerly BWEA)
Genral administration, trouble shooting and bug fixing of the back end / database of a website owned by Renewable-UK, whose IT services are administered by N-Data Ltd, with whome we often work.
This has included

• re-structuring their wind turbine database (mysql) and re-rwiting much of the web interface to it (written in asp / vb, running on a Microsoft IIS webserver).
• Implementing security improvements on their main website after they had been the victim of an SQL injection attack.
• Writting a streaming video interface for Flowplayer, to allow them to easily add new video material to their website.

SITPRO (former DTI department)
Development of a contacts management system for creating / maintaining their 8000+ client database, and generating email mailing lists 'on the fly' from it using a simple search interface. The system is fully configurable on a group / individual basis, including data visible to the user as well as field level editing permissions, and allows 'two tier menus' to be attached to any data field to facilitate / restrict data entry and searching. The has a web based interface using ajax, javascript, css, html, xml, json, jquery supporting Firefox, Safari, IE8. The back end runs on an Apache web server using php 5 scripts which provide the user administration and interface to an SQL database for the main contact database and xml for configuration and preferences storage.
Unfortunately SITPRO was axed as part of the government cutbacks, so the software was only developed to beta version.

Projects undertaken as a contractor
Pascall Electronics, Isle of Wight
Complete rewrite of their TMPS carrier monitoring software. This is a software system for the remote control and reporting of real time and historical data from their satellite data traffic monitoring hardware over the internet. Implemented in Visual Basic with 3rd party activex controls running on Windows 2000 and XP platforms.
